India’s population is a staggering 135.26 crore 158,789,287of them are children,30 % from the total population of children fall below poverty line resulting in a mindset where in education is not the primary focus. Although the government has acts like RTE in place which provides free and compulsory education till the age of 14 in all Government primary school, many children are deprived of these opportunities and their overall growth gets hampered leading to various kinds of abuse and child labour.
Anugyalaya DDSSS under Roman Catholic Darjeeling Diocese works in the nooks and corners of Darjeeling and Kalimpong hills with an aim to abolish illiteracy through various methods of intervention.
Underprivileged children are provided with educational support depending on their needs as needs vary from family to family. We as an organization believe that it through education one can bring a positive change in the society which ultimately results in a creation a safe and sound environment for the children where in they thrive and reach their fullest potential.
